It is an honour to introduce to you the history of the Griqua nation and its Monarchy.
The Griqua nation was called Griqua by the missionaries in 1813 after Adam Kok II has reign the throne as head of the nation.Adam Kok I has not lead the Griqua's as a nation, but has called his clan the Bastards, due to his afraidness for the Colonial Goverment, who killid people who link them with their anchestoral lingue.

The Griqua nation was previouse called the Grigriqua's who was also known as the Saldanners. The leader or King of the Saldanners or the Grigriqua peoples was Gxobona. He was the Father of Eta the mother of Adam and Nicholas. This clan has lived along the West coast area till the Voorberg. It has broken later after the epedemics into smaller groups.

Griqua Royal House National Flag
The Griqua nation was the first indigenous group with its own flag and money. The colonials has tried their utmost to destroyed this nation ,but it was the only indigenous nation who has overcome and stay in excistance till today.

When the General Jan Smuts became President of Orange Freestate they decide that they keep the flag, but put the British flag small in the middle. In 1910 when the Union of South Africa was establish they used this flag, today the Afrikaners feel proud with our flag, thats why we bring the lion in on it.

The Griqua Royal House Emblem
When Cornelius Kok I become old he gave the Leadership of the nation to His eldest son Adam Kok II and the family staff to his youngest son Cornelius Kok Ii as head of the family. The scepter emphacise the family staff as head of the Royal family, the lion ruler of the nation, the crown reigning of the throne, dubble edge swords protection of the nation.

Adam Kok IV and Nicholas Waterboer II

GRIQUALAND WEST :

Area which runs northward from the Orange River to Botswana and consists of the magisterial districts of Kimberley, Herbert, Hay, Postmasburg and Barkley West, covering altogether 50 000 sq km.At the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th Griqua tribes settled in the area and made Klaarwater, which John Campbell renamed Griquatown in 1813,their Headquarters. After the discovery of diamonds in 1867 a serious dispute over the ownership of the diamondfields ensued. The Transvaal, the Orange Free State Nicolaas Waterboer, the Batlapin and Korana Chiefs all claimed it.In March 1871 a court of arbitration at Bloemhof, with Robert Keate, Lieutenant Governor of Natal a British subject, as arbiter, pronounced judgement in favour of Waterboer. After the judgement Waterboer repeated his request to become a British subject, and on 27 October 1871 the Diamond-fields were proclaimed British territory under the name Griqualand West. The Cape goverment refused to incorporate Griqualand West, and in 1873 it became a separate British colony under Lieutenant-governor Richard Southey, with Kimberley as its capital. On 5 August 1879 Griqualand West was nevertheless annexed to the Cape Colony.
